Biogas Blending mandatory with piped natural gas supplies – Roadmap for greener future and sustainable energy –
Recently, the Central Government has given roadmap for mandatory blending of compressed biogas in the transportation and domestic segments of the city gas distribution in a phased mnner.
It is said that LNG import is worth yearly USD 1.17 billion. In order to make gas-based economy and reduce large imports, it is made mandatory biogas blending of 1% under the compressed biogas blending obligation scheme.
It is also aimed for investment of Rs.37,500 crores and facilitate the establishment of 750 compressed bio gas projects by 2028 as estimated by the Government.
It is proposed to increase to 5% from 2028-29.
