Justice for Frontline Heroes – Insurance Benefits Restored by the Bombay HC

The wife of the petitioner was working as Data Entry Operator at Primary Health Centre, Kadgaon in District Kolhapur on contractual basis.   She was hospitalized due to covid infection but died on 4.7.2021.

The insurance / ex-gratia assistance was denied on the ground that the scheme was operational only till 30.6.2021.

Nature of service of a Covid fighter who dies while only duty due to covid infection is immaterial to apply the benefits of insurance scheme. 

Agony and pains of family members of a Covid fighter are the same, irrespective of the nature of employment of such employee. The impact of covid infection equally affected employees and their family members irrespective of their job or nature or tenure of job.
