Disability Certificate – Simplified process – Online portal – Amendment of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (Amendment) Rules 2024.
Now Rule 17 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017, is amended with effect from 18.10.2024.
The amendment simplifies the process for obtaining disability certificate and Unique Disability Identity Card from Online portal. The application to the medical authority or to the concerned medical authority in a hospital (not necessarily a government hospital).
The certificate will be provided in colour coding for severity of the disability – White Band card for below 40% disability, Yellow Band card for below 80% and Blue Band Card for 80% and above disability.
The disability certificate and UDID in three months.
Appeal remedy against rejection of application for disability certificate is provided.
This will create a more inclusive and supportive environment for persons with disabilities.
