IRDAI – Reconstitution of Insurance Advisory Committee

IRDAI Notification dated 22.8.2023 re-constituting Insurance Advisory Committee.    

Section 25 of the IRDAI Act, 1999, provides for constitution of the Insurance Advisory Committee to represent the interests of commerce, industry, transport, agriculture, consumer fora, surveyors, agents, intermediaries, organisations engaged in safety and prevention, research bodies and employees association in the insurance sector.

Objects to advise Authority for regulations under Section 26 of the IRDAI Act, 1999.

Given the objects of sections 25 and 26, it is imperative to consider association of legal experts / consultants not only to guide IRDAI but also the stake holders to make laws and guidelines in simple language and to reduce litigation burden on the Courts.
