Yeoman service to Women – much needed and much awaited facility
On 4.8.2023 the Government of Maharashtra in its Urban Development Department had issued notice inviting suggestions to the proposed modification to the Comprehensive Development Control and Promotion Regulations in the light of comprehensive expansion of IT, IT support services, new IT, new IT Enabled Services Policy of 2023 (GR dated 27.6.2023) in the MIDC Regulations.
What is most important and true service to women is the addition of new regulation as proposed in Schedule B to the notification to provide for Hirkani Kaksha (Ladies Room) in work / public place where pregnant women, lactating mothers can rest and breastfeed the baby in this room may be allowed for ladies with their children under the age of 6 years, pregnant women and new born child mother.
Salient features of proposed regulation –
(i) it shall be accessible from common passage / staircase / lift and preferably located on ground / first floor;
(ii) ventilation, lighting, etc; is provided
(iii) all necessary infrastructure should be provided;
(iv) it shall not be counted in FSI and
(v) the ownership shall vest with the society / association of owners if any.
