TV / Radio / Print / Internet Advertisements – Mandatory Self-declaration w.e.f 18.6.2024
Salutary decision requiring the Advertisers / Advertising Agencies, Print & Digital Media Advertisements to submit self-declaration certificates to be submitted on the portal of Broadcast Seva and Press Council of India
The salient features of the self-declaration certificate are that the advertisement (i) does not contain misleading claims and (ii) complies with all relevant regulatory guidelines including those stipulated in Rule 7 of the Cable Television Networks Rules, 1994 and the Norms of the Press Council of India.
The Advertiser is also required to proof of uploading the self-declaration certificate to the broadcaster, printer, publisher or electronic media platform their records.
The PIB Press Release dated 3.6.2024 refers to the direction of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in its order dated 7.5.2024. The Supreme Court directive is that no advertisement will be permitted to run on television, print media or event internet without a valid self-declaration certificate.
