Regulation 33(10) of the Mumbai Development Control and Planning Regulations, 2034, provides for redevelopment of slum land / area / dwellers.
Slum Rehabilitation Authority is vested with the powers of the Planning Authority under the MRTP Act, 1966, for redevelopment of slum area under the Slum Act.
BMC has, however, taken objection to the SRA granting benefits of Slum Rehabilitation in non-slum area.
In order to resolve the difference of opinion on interpretation of powers between BMC and SRA, the Government has issued the Resolution in exercise of powers under Section 154(1) of the MRTP Act.
The Resolution has issued clear guidelines on development / redevelopment of slum and contiguous non-slum area.
SRA shall start issuing the building permissions online immediately in order to bring transparency and efficiency.
