Costs of Rs.3 lakhs imposed by the High Court on authorities is donated by the petitioner-student to Tata Memorial Hospital

Beyond imagination and unthinkable – Petitioner – student donated costs of Rs.3 lakhs imposed by the High Court on the authorities to Tata Memorial Hospital.

The petitioner was given admission to BHMS Degree Course in 2019 on the condition of production of caste validity certificate before cut-off dated 30.9.2019.

Caste Validity Certificate was decided in the meeting of 24.7.2019 of the Scrutiny Committee but actually it was delivered to the student on 17.2.2020 endangering the admission of the petitioner by the impugned order dated 26.6.2020.

HELD that the Committee is responsible for the inordinate delay in giving the caste validity to the petitioner, imposed the costs of Rs.3 lakhs jointly and severally by the responsible Chairman & Members of the Committee responsible for belated issuance of caste validity certificate, to recover the same from their salary if they fail to pay said costs and directed to donate said costs to Tata Memorial Hospital on the request of the petitioner.
