Important PIL to regulate and frame comprehensive guidelines for advertisements by Corporate Hospitals – Supreme Court issued the Notice
The important point raised in the PIL is that although medical practitioners are prohibited from advertising, such a prohibition is not applicable to the corporate hospitals.
It is contended that the unethical advertising and illegal direct / indirect solicitation of work by corporate hospitals is violative of Regulations 6.1.1 and 7.11 of the IMC(Professional Conduct, Etiquette and Ethics) Regulations, 2022, by the medical practitioners practising independently or as a part of a clinic / hospital.
