UGC – Foreign Universities now in India – Guidelines notified on 8.11.2023 for setting up and operation of Campuses of such Educational Institutions.
The University Grants Commission (Setting up and Operation of Campuses of Foreign Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2023, framed vide the Notification dated 7.11.2023 are published in the Gazette of 8.11.2023. The paramount object of these Regulations is that the education imparted in India campus is on par with the main campus in the origin county.
Now, the international dimension to the higher education in India. Moreover, the International faculty of Foreign Universities shall stay in India for at least a semester.
Let us hope that the large number of students taking huge educational loans may take admission in such Foreign University Campuses in India rather than going abroad for such higher study. Moreover, the guidelines suggest reasonable fees and also scholarship to the Indian citizens.
Regulation 12 is important it provides that in case of any dispute with respect to the Regulations, the Courts in India shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
