The other States may also follow such an important Act for their residents throughout the country
The Rajasthan Right to Health Act (No.7 of 2023) – Section 3 provides for rights to health for every resident in the State of Rajasthan.
In all 20 rights are delineated from clauses (a) to (t). To my mind, the salutary and important rights are –
(a) to have adequate relevant information about the nature, cause of illness, proposed investigations and care, expected results of treatment, possible complications and expected costs;
(b) To avail free OPD services, IPD services consultation, drugs, diagnostics, emergency transport, procedure and emergency care …..
(f) to know the name, professional status and job chart of the person who is providing health care;
(l) to have information about the rates or charges for each type of service and facilities available;
(m) to choose source of obtaining medicines or tests at all health care establishments.
(n) to patient’s education about health condition;
(s) to avail free transportation, free treatment and free insurance against road accidents at all health care establishments….
(t) to obtain treatment records and information from the treating health care establishment to seek second opinion from another health care professional or health care establishment.
The State and the District Health Authorities are constituted. Appeal against the order of the District Health Authority is provided.
Section 14 provides for penalties.
