Election Code of Conduct – Suspension of activities – Maha Building Construction Workers Welfare Board

By the Circular dated 17.10.2024, the Maharashtra Building and Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board suspended the welfare measures under the Building and Other Construction Workers (Regulation of Employment and Conditions of Service) Act, 1996, in view of forthcoming Assembly elections.

This suspension will apply to the fresh registration, renewal, distribution of benefits such as protective fears, essential gears, household utility sets, fresh approvals under housing scheme.

HELD that none of the benefits already envisaged under the Act for the State of Maharashtra and already implemented as at the time of Model Code of Conduct would constitute any inducement to the electorate in the State.
