Consumer Complaint of Devotee – Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams

On 21.8.2007, the complainant made payment of Rs.12,250/- for “Melchat Vastram” Seva and it was fixed on 10.9.2021.  However, due to pandemic, all Sevas were cancelled.

On 21.8.2021, the complainant wrote the letter to the respondents and also paid Rs.3,065/- additional payment for postponement of Seva as per their instructions.

However, the DD was returned with instructions to login online portal for break darshan or refund of deposit.

The devotee- complainant filed the consumer for direction to the TTD for allotment of convenient date to perform “Seva”.

According to the Trust, all Sevas are booked till 2040.

HELD that the devotee was 48 years at the time of registration for Seva, she waited for 13 years for Seva, now she is 60 years and cancellation of said Seva is nothing deficiency of service.  The Seva is very precious to every pilgrim and the opposite parties negligently replied “either avail break darshan or refunded

The Seva Ticket says that “TTD reserved its right of cancellation this Seva under any special circumstances”.

In Column No.12 it was mentioned that “postponement / cancellation (advance booking only ) is allowed one time only on additional payment of 25% amount of the seva.  ….”

The contention of the TTD shows that they have neglected previous devotees and failed to give opportunities to the previous booking seva ticket holders but gave opportunities to the current booking holders.   This is nothing but deficiency of service.

TTD was directed to give Seva in 45 days and on failure to pay Rs.10 lakhs to the complainant under deficiency of service along with said Seva.

On 21.8.2021, the complainant wrote to TTD with Rs.1,250/- as additional payment for postponement of seva as per its instructions and requested for re-allotment of date in 2022-23 or as may be convenient to the TTD.  However, the TTD informed to book break darshan through online and it was difficult for said Seva.
